Alice Ball was the first woman and African American to receive a master's degree from the University of Hawaii, where she was also the first African American chemistry professor. She helped develop a treatment for leprosy by chemically modifying chaulmoogra oil, making it water-soluble and injectable, so that it could be absorbed more easily. Proudly wear this top as you remember the amazing scientific contributions of Alice Ball!
